A person who is an adult can be described as a human being or any other animal that is at full growth.The biological meaning of the word means the animal has reached sexual maturity, which makes it capable of reproducing. For humans an adult's term has significance that is shaped by social and legal concepts. In contrast to a non-adult or "minor" an legal adult has reached the age of majority. They are regarded as autonomous, self-sufficient and dependable. They are also known as a "major". There is a general belief that the threshold at which an individual legally matures is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and the country of origin as well as the development of the individual's psychological.

The period of human development in which full physical and mental maturation has been achieved. Most people think that adulthood starts at 20 years or more. It is around 60 years old after middle years. The three major stages of adulthood are early adulthood (from mid-30s to late-60s) mid-adulthood between mid-30s to late-60s and later adulthood (mid-60s until end of life). The early adulthood stage is the one of physical maturation that we are at when we attain the age of 20 to 40 years aged. We are a little taller and heavier can, however, slightly grow. In young adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies are at their best such as muscle strength, reaction time, sensory abilities, and the functioning of our heart.
